I am not sure-but it says it will cut fabric--I just want one that will cut ribbon

hi ladies... =)...It's not the machine, it's the dies that cuts.

Didn't Jenni just showed us the ribbon she cut with CB? Hers looked like a clean cut to me and she's using CB.

You may want to try cutting some shims out of cardstock or cardboard, that will help with getting the pressure needed to cut through the ribbon. I usually have to use at least one shim with CB to cut through the ribbon (although it also depends on the thickness of the ribbon). The tape helps get the clean cut and keep the fraying down. You just have to play with it to see what works for the ribbon you are using.

I cannot figure out why you are having problems cutting.
I have used the dies from Cuttlebug & Sizzix with no problem.
And yes I did cut ribbon and fabric. I didn't put tape over the ribbon and the edges cut smooth!
Once in a while it will leave a few places in felt cut outs that I have to use scissors on.
Some felt is thicker than others.
Thats when I too will put a piece of paper under the die before I cut. Some felt just needs a little more pressure that that piece of paper gives.
I cannot even begin to count how many things I have cut out and not had problems.
When cutting felt you have to replace the plastic sheets often. They warp!
CUtting ribbon and fabric has not been a problem at all. When I cut fabric I use iron on adhesive between two layers of fabric then cut out my shape. That bonds the edges together so it won't fray at all!
Are you having problems with just one die or is it everything you try to cut?

I only have 2 dies and I could not get either one to cut the ribbon--I am going to try building it up under the die and see if that works better.

Thanks everyone for all your advise.

so I experimented a little more...for my die, I ended up with ten pieces of paper that I put in between the A and first B plate. (Hope that makes sense!) Cut through the ribbon, quite nicely, not much fraying at all. I didn't use the tape, though. So, you'll just have to play with either paper or cardstock or thin cardboard to build up underneath.

Ten pieces.....wow! I have never had to use more than two.
If you use the thinner die do you use the other plastic sheet? The clear one that is thicker than the "B" one....I think it's "C"
So hurry up and show us what you made! I can't wait to see!!

And for those of you that have the Cuttlebug...you need one of these covers and the bag to hold the cord.
