I'm making rice bags for like everybody this year (cause I'm trying to be thrifty!! haha!)

But I made a matching set. I did a long tube like one for necks and knees and other achey body parts and then made some small square ones for pocket warmers! Its like reuseable hot hands!

Oh, I just remembered something I made for everyone several years ago. I don't know what to call them, maybe "Winter Traction In A Bottle".

I filled 1 liter soda bottles with traditional dry kitty litter (not the scoopable kind). If you get stuck in the ice or snow you pour it under the wheels to create traction. If you have front wheel drive you only pour it under the front wheels.

I didn't bother with decorating them but obviously you can if you want to. I packaged them in brown bags I got from my local liquor store and I included pocket warmers (the little packets you activate by crushing them), but you could include a pair of gloves or anything else in keeping with the theme.

You should use feed corn instead. It is much cheaper and actually safer and less likely to mildu... I originally wanted to do rice bags but found out that there was all kinda issues and found research done compairing all differnet methods (rice, corn, rocks, beans, heating pads and a bunch of others) and corn is less likely to mildu and holds heat longer and much cheaper... a pound of corn is about $0.15 compaired to a pound of rice... what $1?? Not sure there.

I love these by the way.. made a ton for my craft shows and only 3 sold.. I have like 20 that I am gifting this christmas as well!

Where can you buy dried corn? I know you can get it from the feed store because we used to mix it in for the horses, but I don't know where to buy it that isn't in a 40 lb bag lol.

We actually bought the 40 pound bag.. it goes fast and for $8 it fills probably 20 10X10 bags... Walmart sells it during deer season too
