Default Woven headband question

I have yet to purchase these headband instructins but when I do, what kind of headband do I get (1",2"??) and do I get the padded or just the hard plastic and how do you keep them from falling off little heads? My daughter is 4 and I wrapped a headband in ribbon and it keeps slipping off.

Has anyone thought about running a line of silicone inside the headband? I was at wal-mart and they sell headbands that have a clear non-slip line adhered to the inside. I am pretty sure it is silicone. Just a thought because my oldest hates the velrco lining and I have had some other customers request not to have it put in. I haven't tried it yet.
