I know it's weird, but in the instruction manual it says you can only change the tip when the glue gun is hot. It's true, I've tried it cold and it doesn't work.

poor thing has been used and abused, left on all night, dropped on the floor, hit with the woodburner but still a workhorse
Ditto.. I always seem to just need the skinny one. I've had it on for years.

I have the same problem with mine! My hubby bought me one for my birthday and I had him put the skinny nozzle on, but now I can't get it off so I've resorted to using my $2.50 Michael's mini glue gun.

The gun has to be warm in order to remove the nozzles, otherwise its a PITA.
The tool they give is useless IMO.. Use a 9/16" wrench. Hold the base then turn nozzle counterclock wise (with wrench). The first removal is hard, but then its easy. Elbow grease is needed for the first removal.

Owned two of these and had the same issue with each. There was no way I could get the nozzle off by myself. My husband used a real wrench and turned while I held the gun still. It came off pretty easy both times that way. I only use the skinny long nozzle and never take it off.
