Default what type of marabou is easiest?

Hi all, I want to try and use marabou in my bows but when I headed to an online store to buy them I found they have lots of different styles of marabou such as the individual feathers, puffs and boa's so I'm now confused lol which one is more suited to hair bows and easiest for a beginner?

any help is much appreciated

I'm new to all of this too.

I would think that for most bows you would simply need a puff as an accent.

in which case individual puffs would be the way to go if you can get hold of them. Otherwise there is a very recent thread that tells you how to make puffs from the "linear" (for lack of a better term).

Basically you take a 1.5" - 2" section, form a circle, and glue it together. If I had a better memory I would give credit to the person that posted the information, but I'll thank them again here.

I'm not quite sure when you might need a longer section in a bow. It would have to be a pretty big bow.

And I don't think the individual feathers or boas are really the way to go unless you want a more obvious feathered look, as opposed to a downy/fluffy look.

I'm new too, but I use marabou boas because they are much cheaper than the puffs. The place that I get them from call them fluffy boas, but it's marabou. I also like the feather cuffs, which is smaller pieces of marabou, but not as fluffy as the marabou boas.

i'm also not sure of the correct term for these, but here is a style we used a feather for headbands. You can see my 2 girlies wearing them. What do you think of these?

How pretty!! If you don't mind me asking what is used on the tips of the headband? Is it ribbon or some kind of cover? I am assuming they hot glue the ribbon to the metal band? I have never used metal bands before but am seeing a lot of them popping up everywhere.

thank you all for your suggestions there are so many different names used for them it gets rather confusing I think I'll start with the puffs for convenience while I play with ideas then move on to making them with boa's once I'm more confident in what I want from them

chazup - love the headbands they are sooo cute thank you for sharing them

Thanks for the compliment! we actually had them manufacture our design and its a ribbon covering the metal headband and a glued ribbon fabric on the ends for comfort. We wholesale these for $3.99-$4.99 depending on qty. Do you think it's fairly low priced?
