Default Re: Burn from hot glue gun

I've burned my fingers many times (usually on a curling iron when I used to be a hairstylist). The only way I was able to relieve that pain was to put my finger in a glass of ice water (only one or two icecubes, if it's too cold it hurts more) and leave it in there for a few hours til it feels better. Never tried the tomato though, will try that next time

I did that with my arm 2 months ago, I now have a huge scar because when I peeled the glue off, my skin came off with it. [/QUOTE]

I did the same thing before. I peeled the glue off while it was still very hot. AND IT hurt even more. Now I know to wait till it cool down..Then the skin won't come off. It had happened to me many times. after that rise with cold water, and put your finger in a cup of cold water, and cover your finger with a cold wash clothes..
This is what I do...

Speaking as a nurse & several time glue burn sufferer. The best thing is cool water, no ice directly on it though as it can make it worse. After it stops burning try to keep it loosely covered. That will help keep you from breaking the blister open. If the blister does break you should use some antibacterial cream & a bandage of some sort to keep it clean. Antibiotic cream won't do much until/unless the blister breaks.

I so feel for you. I got a glob stuck under my fingernail last week.

Hope this helps!!
