Tying with the tulle is fantastic! It holds much tighter. I still ended up with an oval, football shape, (1st pic) when I cut it off the ring, but didn't have to do as much trimming this time to get more of a ball shape (2nd pic). Thanks Lorriane!

My tulle tie broke again (man, I must be really strong). Hee hee. But it DID tie tighter.

Anyway, I think it looks much more similar to the desired result at this point but I need more practice.

I used (read that wasted) a combined 50 yards of tulle on the two puffs I've made so far: 25 yds of white and 25 yds of pink. But that was just around $7 worth retail price. My first one was huge (using the stack and tie method).

I think I'm going to need something stronger so I may try the elastic for the center tie when I get more tulle. I'd like to try some in the blue tulles.

ALSO, I think I need sharper fabric sheers. I just know I've seen my husband grab my sewing sheers and use them on paper! It was a chore for me to cut through the 4 layers and not cut the cardboard. I wonder if there is something other than cardboard that could be used. Maybe something metal (I'll have to check around Lowes and Home Depot to see what is available).

My camera currently has over 1000 pictures loaded onto it and so I haven't been able to take and upload my pom pictures, but I will try to do that soon. I know the posts are more fun with pictures.

Anyone else getting any tweeking tips that are working for them?

Lorraine-- How are you attaching your dowel rod?? I am in the process of wrapping my cardboard ( I really am not that slow-- I had to make 3 tutu's first!). THanks SO much for your help with this. I am so glad this is just in time for Adri's photo shoot tomorrow!!

glad that I'm not the only one that thought about that earlier - lol! I'm wondering if you could drill a hole through the top of the dowel and then secure the puff with ribbon? I'll have to try this weekend. Thanks again, Lorraine for all of your help!

Hey ladies - once you figure out how to get the dowels attach - run out to Hobby Lobby and buy a pack of their pre-cut ones. I think they are 12-18" long (they aren't in front of me right now) and come in different widths. The skinnier they are - the more you get in a pack, Anyway, I think the pack is less than $2 to start with and all unfinished wood products are 30% right now. Hope that helps.

As far as attaching goes... could you wrap a piece of floral wire around the tulle know once it is tightened and then take teh ends of the wire and run it down the length of the dowel - wrapping as you go. Then take the florist tape (the stretchy paper type stuff) and tape around it before you wrap the dowel in ribbon. I haven't tried it, but I know that's what you do when you trying to reattach (secure) a silk flower to a stem. I thought it might be a similar concept. What'cha think?

Y'all are too funny!

I like the look of the slightly thicker dowel with the poof. Wendy sews a little ribbon sleeve which looks really nice (in the photos).

I'm going to get more tulle tomorrow and sharper sheers (and hide them from my Husband!) and give this another go.

Has anyone bought any non-bridal colors at Michaels or at Joann's?

I've bought pink and white there before and I've seen yellow and maybe pale blue. I'm too impatient to order and wait now that we're getting the hang of these.

What's going to be our next "figure it out" project?!

Okay I am a newbie so don't laugh to much at my questions:

1. I have the tule by the yard, if you used the larger piece of tule how
wide did you cut your pieces?

2. When you are done wrapping it how do you secure it while you are
cutting around the circle?

Thanks!
