Default Assembling flowers - a little help?

What methods do you use for assembling your flowers for clips and headbands? I usually take mine apart and glue back together, layer by layer. I am having some problems with some flowers I just got in that I can't get them to line up (or better yet, not line up) correctly.

I don't want the petals all lined up as then they look dumb, but want them to be turned so that when you look between the petals, you see a petal behind it.

Does that make sense??

Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
