Default Anyone Have QUick Way to Make String Knots???

I am finding I can make bows super quick but it takes me forever to make knots in the stings. I guess my fingers just don't move quick but the knots just hang me up and my employee has the same issue. Does everyone tie knots when sewing boutiques and pinwheels??? Is there an easier way??? Please help....

I wet my thread a little that way it does not slip and no need to hold down the center.

I have a damp washcloth in my work area that I wet my middle finger and thumb and then wrap string around middle finger and then rub middle finger and thumb together to twist string together and pull...works EVERY time.

I do the same as several previous posters and when I tie it off at the end I pull the needle through almost all the way until there is a small loop left hanging out and pull my needle through it and then repeat again, sometimes 3 times if needed for a good secure knot and then cut, its super quick. (I do this on felts, I don't make bows).

Totally off the subject but... Heartfelt Creations.. I bought some of your felt santas, snowmen, and turkeys and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! In fact, I love them so much, that most of what I bought, I'm using in my own daughters bows instead of adding them to bows I sell! I will be a returing customer, for sure! Sorry, saw you on here and had to give ya a shout out!

Thanks for the tips these sound great just to make sure I am clear this is what you do to the strings when starting the bows right? That is what takes me forever tying the little knot in the end of the string before i start sewing the bow.

I know what you mean - I used to hate that part too. Someone showed me an AMAZING way to do this - and it is worth its weight in gold!!! Let me try to explain....

Thread needle
take ends of thread and bring them up lay perpendicular to your needle and hold in place with your thumb
while holding there, wrap your thread AROUND your needle 2 times
move your thumb up to now cover the 2 wrappings
SLIDE the "twists" off your needle, all the way down your thread and VOILA -
you have a knot!!!!!! It is soooooooooo fast! I no longer mind doing the sewing!!! Amazing!
