Default Why doesn't my rosette look like this one?

Okay, here is what I want mine to look like....
http://www.etsy.com/listing/61208276...-cream-rosette

Hers look flat while rolled. Is she using the SisBoom tutorial where you iron it down wrapped around a piece of cardboard? I have not tried the SisBoom method yet. I just twisted and wrapped my silk and left the edges raw. How can I get mine to look like hers?? I'm also using silk dupioni.

Have you tried ironing it after you have finished? Would that give the same effect?

Hmm, I could try that. But hers look too neat and tightly folded to just be ironed flat IMO.

Sorry it is the only thing I can think of at 1 am lol. I was originally going to suggest ironing the material first but that wouldn't work.

Oh, I was up until 1am too. Thank you for your suggestion. My brain doesn't function well after 10pm.

Did you iron your fabric BEFORE you started? To get a neat crisp fold like that I'm pretty sure you have to cut your strip double the length that you want and then fold it in half and iron it. That keeps is smooth and crisp.

Duh, such a simple solution. Why wasn't that obvious to me? LOL. I will try that. And here I was about to buy this tutorial. Looks close.

Actually, I really like your rosettes how they are now. So pretty! Great work and nice pics!

Aww, shucks. Thanks. You are too sweet. I guess what we like is such a matter of personal taste. And we are our own worst critic.

Yes, that looks close, but really the sis boom pattern is probably the same thing. And that one is free.

Also, I should have said double the WIDTH of the fabric (for instance if you want to use 1.5" strips cut is 3" wide and fold it) instead of length. But you get the idea, LOL!
