I was wondering the same thing for awhile too. I started ironing my fabric, folding the raw edges in and then folding the whole thing in half and pressing. They started to come out a lot neater. I still can't get them to look that perfect though. I guess it just comes with practice.

What method are you using? are you gluing the rolled layers to a piece of felt below?

I do mine with more of a fold than a roll, and glue it directly to the layer before. Then you can kind of fold it up on the previous layer to get the crisp folded layer...

Not sure if that makes sense.

Here's a link to some of mine:

http://hipgirlclips.com/forums/how-m...-do-these.html

If I roll/fold them a little tighter, and a little more deliberately, they turn out like the one you posted from etsy.

Hope this helps, I in no way consider myself an expert on these...

Hers look flat while rolled. Is she using the SisBoom tutorial where you iron it down wrapped around a piece of cardboard? I have not tried the SisBoom method yet. I just twisted and wrapped my silk and left the edges raw. How can I get mine to look like hers?? I'm also using silk dupioni.

The ones on etsy look wrapped to tightly that the layers are probablly glued to other layers, instead of a backing. When you do them on a backing, (like felt) it makes the layers farther apart and looser. Lynn has an awesome tut she used to sell. Not sure if she still does, but I purchsed it awhile back. HTH!

Who is Lynn and do you have a link to her shop or the tut? Thanks.

I made some using the sisboom tut and to me, there were too many steps and ironing...I like to just roll/fold and glue, much easier and they turn out great! there is a really good youtube tut on them... I will try and find it.

I think yours look great! And, I think hers are just rolled/folded tighter as she goes.
