That's sort of what I do but I use glass. My dh taped a piece of 4.5" and I think 6.75" for fully lined under the glass. He uses that as his guide when he cuts. He also uses the woodburning tool.

If I only need a few I use my 4.5" template to mark & cut OR If doing bulk I mark the ribbon at 4.5" (or 3.5") intervals (I have a ruler that I can slip the ribbon into the centre of) then cut with my woodburner

Yea it is heavy but i don't usually move it much. I have it sitting on my island which is a wood top and i put those slider thingys under it that you put on the bottom of chairs so it moves easily without marking up anything. I also love it because it is always cool so the wood burners melts it but the granite cools it really fast and i don't get any kinds of strings or weird stuff. Really happy with it just like u mentioned wish it wasn't soo heavy but i can deal!!!!

Woodburner does make it fast but what I do when I'm sitting on the couch is measure 1 yard on a yard stick. Fold in half and cut at the center. (2 18" pieces) Fold those in half and cut (4 9" pieces) Fold those in half cut and you have 4.5" pieces then heatseal with lighter.

I used to do the same but let me tell you, you should try the wood burners it is WONDERFUL!!!! It cuts my time in half cause you don't have to use a lighter it does it all in one step and i LOVE IT.. So happy i started to do it this way. only downfall is my 20 month old wants to help

I <3 my woodburner.

I had it plugged in and DH came into the "DO NOT ENTER BECAUSE I'M CRAFTING ZONE" and stumbled over the cord. Woodburner came flying off the table and onto our hardwood floors. The tip was so hot that it broke off and then both pieces burnt my floors. DH apologized and said he'd fix it. 3 months later, I just went and bought a new one with my 40% HL coupon.

Now this sounds good because I always do it while I am sitting on the couch as well. I will try this tonight. Thanks for sharing!

i my ribbon with tape and cut with the wood burner, it doesnt cut all the way through just enough to peel and stick ...i found this is the easiest and fastest way to cut and seal at once.
