Default How to stiffen ribbon for korker bows

new here- I'm trying to figure out how to stiffen satin ribbon for korkers. I have lots of it (it's on sale this week at Michaels 5/$1) and I've never been able to figure how to get it stiff like the grossgrain ribbon turns out. I tried dipping the ribbon in liquid starch once but it didn't work either. (I might have wrung too much starch out though?)

Thanks for a great site-

I would love to know the answer to this as well. I didn't even think about the satin not korking until I read this. Actually mine says 100% nylon, is that the same as satin? Anyway I just corked a whole bunche of 4th of July ribbon but I haven't put it in the oven yet. I was thinking I would just spray it with stiffen stuff before sticking it in the oven, would that work?

I spray stiffen stuff on my korkers, but I've never korked satin ribbon, only grosgrain.

I cook the spray with starch when it gets out of the oven. Still on the dowel- and just soak it. The heat and everything will soak it right up.

I have a pic- the pastel korker is satin. Also- I LOVE that satin that's on sale for headbands! I enclosed a pic of that too.

Sorry if I am a little slow but are you saying that dip the ribbon in starch, then roll it and then spray the dowel with the spray after it has been cooked?

I roll onto dowels.
Cook
As soon as it gets out I spray with starch.
Let dry ON the dowel.
Sometimes it needs more starch (just check for stiffness)
Unroll and make into korkers!

I spray starch before I bake to "set" the starch. Also follow up with hairspray! Nylon doesn't work from what I have read. only poly and poly mix's although I haven't tested this theory!
