Either I sew them or use Bowdabra Bow Wire. That stuff is aweseome. You can tie bows off using the gator bite/Sally's salon clips, and it won't hurt your hands. It ties them the tightest imo, and I have tried everything. It depends on the size and type of the bow to determine if I sew or tie off.

I use the gator bite, then tie it off. I am to lazy to hand sew, that is what my sewing machine is for...lol. Now, if I could sew the centers with my machine....

I hand crease and wrap with DMC floss. The only thing i dont like about sewing is I can't adjust things around. I tie off then I secure it again. I am a OCD person and have to have everything equal :-) Once its stitched the loops don't budge.

i usually sew the bows, but when i make the base out of fabric & use the alligator clip . . . the best thing is the skinny organza ribbon to tie it with. i can take it off the alligator clip after just doing one under over & adjust it . . . and then do the second part of the knot. i've tried everything . . . dental floss, beading wire, upholstery thread, fishing line, etc.

YES! That's how I am, and I found with sewing them I couldn't go back and adjust anything!

I've always wondered the same thing.

I freehand my twisteds with clips from Sally's and use wire. What works best for me is placing the wire through the underside of the clip and out each end of the top and then taking two grip tools (can't remember what they are called for the life of me! Similar to wrenches) one in each hand, knot it and pull the wire as tight as I can. Then I put the ends of the wire back through the opposite sides of the Sally's clip and knot the other side the same way and clip the excess wire. This way the knot is super tight, not too bulky and it's much faster than sewing for me. I'm not the best sewer though!

The only time it borders on too bulky is when I have layered bows with 2 or 3 separate bows and I have to put them together. It becomes somewhat bulky and heavy but I think it would be heavy regardless of whether I use wire or thread due to the amount of ribbon used.

I sew mine. I used to use a crochet thread, but I just couldn't get it to work well for twisteds. I agree that you can't move them alot. I have just taken it out and redone it before. But, I just try to get everything really straight and even in my sally's clip before I sew it.

I've never used wire. Most of my bows are sewn, if I can't get the centre creases to look 'right' by tying then I sew. I also use a combo of templates and freehand
