Default Ribbon for Korkers?

I had an issue over the summer with my ribbon from Michaels coming unkorked with the Nebraska Humidity, what kind of ribbon do you guys use for Korkers and what do you do to get them to stay (I starched them with no luck) Any advice?

I use grosgrain, but have used satin. I only bake, no starch and mine always stay.

I've used both GG & Satin, I starch then bake. I don't sell many (mainly because I haven't made them lol) but had 1 customer report that she accidentally washed hers and it came out fine (she also lives in a humid area here in Aussie land).

Cheers Rubes

Make sure your not using cheap grosgrain. I only buy shiff or Offray. then I spray with starch and cook them. Never had one come un-korked...

I had the same problem here is South Florida, I found this out

Stiffer ribbon holds better

Spray before baking & after

Spray w/ hair spray too

This is what I do

I wrap, wet w/ water, shake off excess, spray w/ heavy starch, rub it in, spray lightly w/ aqua net hairsparay, rub it in, bake at 225 for 20 minutes, un wrap & make korker, spray w/ starch again hang up side down to dry a couple of hours.

It's a little more time consuming but they do hold, good luck!
