Thank you! I've made some layered tutus that turned out, but this I think will work much better!

Please post pics of your tutus so we can see them. I don't make tutus (yet) but am in love with them.

All of my tutus are triple layered. You can mix the colors or each layer can be a color.

It is all about layering on the elastic. First layer should be at the bottom. Second layer in the middle of elastic and third at the top.

this is how I make mine. It works great and makes it where there's not a bulky knotted waistband.

Awesome! Thank you for the tips!! My daughter has been asking for another tutu and the last time I tried a multi layered one, I failed miserably LOL

Doh! I think I understand now at least for the triple layer. Please correct me if I'm wrong lol. Lets say I was doing pink on the bottom, white in the middle and purple on the top..
So I would put the pink ribbon on, then spread it apart in the middle of the knot, then put the white one on in the middle of the knot (so there would be a strand of pink on each side (to the left and right)? Then repeat for the purple layer on top of the pink?

Start by knotting your first layer as low as you possibly can on the elastic without the knot being on the inside. Then you made the next layer in the middle of the elastic (in between the bottom layer knots) Then I add a third layer towards the top of the elastic. Again you knot in between the previous layer. You do not have to turn it upside down or anything. You just layer it.
I don't make tutus but I've seen a lot of them. And I have to say, that first pic is GORGEOUS!!

You do absolutely beautiful work!

Thank you. It took a lot of trial and error. Once you get the concept and try it, you will firgure a way that works best for you. I like this because it gives me a very slim waist band and you can not see my knots because one layer covers the next.

I made this one last night. The picture is bad but my batteries dies in my camera and I had to use my phone.
