Thumbs down Ewwww, cigarette smoke smell

I got a destash package in the mail today, and as soon as I opened it I could smell the stale cigarette smoke. Gross! Should have thought to ask if home was smoking or non, but since I didn't--are there any tricks to getting the smell out of ribbon?

ewww... i hate that smell.... have you pm'ed te seller to let her know?
maybe she will be nice to issue mayeb a partial refund or full if you return the items to her.

I think I am the only one in my family who doesnt smoke
I grew up around smokers... my hubby doesnt smoke either & we dont allow it in our house. When people come over i make them go to the back porch to smoke & I don't care if its 10 below zero... lol

I agree, to a non- smoker, like myself, my nose is very sensitive to cigarette smoke. But i know with alot of oders as well as smoke and pet smells, i am a firm believer in febreeze . Just a spritz of it on fabric can actually remove the odor instead of just masking it, so you may try that. Also, with some ribbons, you can wash them with soap and water and lay them flat to dry or air dry them and it will take it out as well.. just some suggestions, hope that helps.

I am a smoker, but, don't smoke in enclosed areas (home, car, etc). However, static guard works wonders for taking the smell out!

Fabric softner sheets in the dryer for a while. Might take a little bit of time but it should come out.

This same thing happened to me a few weeks ago! I put all the stuff in a large (the storage kind for a sweater or something, larger than the gallon size) ziploc bag and put a box of baking soda in there with it. Arm and Hammer has a box now that does not spill. You just rip the sides off. I left them all in there for 4 days and now they don't smell at all!

Febreeze!!! I love this stuff! Also if you have a place to set it outside, fresh air works wonders. We go through this all the time when my Mom sends things to the kids. You open the box and all you can smell is smoke! Good Luck!

You can also make your own Febreze. Get a clean spray bottle, add a capful of fabric softener, fill up with water and shake. Works great and much cheaper!

My daughter used to hang with these two girls that lived behind us. Whenever she was in their house and came home, I'd about gag at the cigarette smell on her hair and clothes. They were nice kids, but if they were in my house, then our couch would smell etc. I'd spray everything down wherever they had been with my homemade spray.

They moved away and we no longer have to do that!
