Default Sewing bow?

Hi Everyone, I have a question. I am trying to secure my bows--i am trying to sew them and my thread keeps popping when i go and pull it tight. is there a particular type of thread I should be using? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jamie
