Default Have You ever???

I sure this is not where this goes...BUT. Have you ever purchased a tutorial on how to make something and at the end is reads.. you are wlcome to make and sell your final product but if you list it for sale on the internet you must include a link to where she sells the instructions for what you are trying to sell. I may be wrong but dosent that sound a little pointless? Sorry if I offend anyone.

You do not have to add the link, they have no right to ask you to. I think its rude.

I dont think its rude. I have made crochet items with someones pattern and in my listing, I would right "made from seller's name pattern" in the fine print. I have also created my own patterns. I just think its a little giving credit where credit is due. You did not come up with the pattern, you just made the product. I can bet ya that 98% of the people 1.) will not even pay attention to it and 2.) are buying it from you because they either cant or dont have the time to make the item.

For them it is a way to market their product more BUT for those who are trying to sell the product from the tutorial it is a bit of shooting yourself in the foot! Why show people where to go and make the product? I don't care if people copy my ideas BUT I am not going to make it easy for them and show them where to go.

You can think most do not notice but they do and more over the people who can make them with a patter are less likely to buy from you and will buy the pattern.

I agree, because I had a table set up last weekend, and heard a lot of "well this cant be that hard to make" and where did you learn to do this?" I even had one lady ask me to teach her to do it. I have not been doing this as long as a lot of HGs on here but I have put A LOT of time and money into learning. And gone through a lot of trail and error. I do this for fun and to make a little money. My prices are very reasonable and if they want to know how they need to put in the leg work to learn. That is what is going to give you your edge in the business anyway.

I am thinking crochet, since this was the only pattern I bought that said this. The "I dont think it can be too hard to make this" comments are laughable to me. Yep, maybe its not too hard to make, but go ahead and invest all the time and money and research into it. Thats the hard part.

Just for the record, I would never put the link itself on my listing, but I would say " pattern from ABC crochet" and then if they want to find it and buy the supplies and make it, well more power to you.

The one I got was for a silk flower. I have only made two so far and they are VERY time consuming! Im not even sure if they are worth it!
