I also have the bigkick and love it! I always use it to cut felt- unstarched, and even leather. You can do several layers at once. I have fused fabric to felt. First, I iron on the wonderunder, I think that's what its called, peel off the back and then iron on the fabric...then I run it through the press. I have only used the Bigz dies. HTH! Have fun!

So glad you asked this question! I was wondering what dyes were best to cut felt and fabric too. Now I know which one to look for a sale on, or at least a good coupon!

I have just bought a bigshot (and haven't even unpacked it yet!!) and was wondering if you can cut really light fabrics eg chiffon, nylon etc with it. I have ordered a few different dies and was hoping I could cut the cirles for the singed flowers with it. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Linda

Yes they will cut with Sizzix "originals"-I've used the circles to make mini singed flowers-make sure you place plain paper between fabric and die--keeps the edges cleaner and the fabric threads out of the die.

Off the top of my head..
These dies work
Sizzix bigz
sizzix originals
sizzlits
spellbinders
cuttlebug

I don't like
quickutz - at all
boskut- it makes me angry i ever purchased. That was $80 down the drain

I dislike cutting craft felt.
The blend felts are perfect. Like the 80/20, 60/40 with wool and synthetic.

I get mine wholesale in the us and from the uk. My UK is lighter, thinner, softer so works well in layers and as band backing. National nonwovens felt is usually quite thick but still cuts easily and keeps shape well. Great for sewing details in.

I use the sizzix.Shame.. I only have the original machne!
I have used it for hmm.2 years to cut felt. Thouands of cuts. Never changed a pad, plate. still going strong!

be sure to scope out yardsales for dies. People think they're a thing of the past or give up scrap and sell cheap!

Another set of dies you might want to look at is the Nestabilities. They are great!

Joanne

P.S. Forgot to say I've got the Sizzix Big Shot.

I've got several sets of the Nestabilities (made by Spellbinders). Love 'em for cutting a nice variety of sizes of a specific shape in felt!
