Default CHEER BOW HELP NEEDED!! (Stiffening advice)

So Last year for Nationals my school team bought these super cute TEXAS SIZED bows and the whole team loved them!! so this year our coach decided to buy all of our bows as TEXAS Sized, but we didn't buy them from the same place. These bows ended up just being poorly made, GIANT, FLOPPY, and flat out UGLY versions of our old bows!! So I'm thinking about cutting the tails and stiffening my bow but it is already made and I have never stiffened a bow before. Is it possible to do with a "finished" bow? if so HOw?? if not, should I tear my bow apart and re-make it after stiffening it?

I know with the doggie bows I make I stiffen them with a spray but use wodden dowels in each of the loops, spray to death and leave for a couple days and I have nicely stiffened bows.

But I also do this before putting on any decorations or clips.

I am sure some of the ladies here can give you some better suggestions.

Will you post the picture of the bow or send it to me? I may be able to duplicate it for you.

Does your bow contain sequin material or metallic spandex fabric? If so, I would not recommend stiffening it as it is. I may be best to pull it apart, stiffen the grosgrain and then remake the bow. If it is only made of plain grosgrain, you can stiffen it using hairspray (I use Aussie Instant Freeze). No baking necessary. You may need to respray from time to time, but I have found that the Aussie work great.

HTH!
