my only suggestion is like others said use a boutique style bow. Practice it and get them nice and full. I am STILL practicing my twisted boutique...I cannot for the life of me get that one down!

i agree with everything that has been said, also if you want long spikes because i know some people do make sure they are all the same length i noticed that your spikes are different lengths be sure to keep them as even as you can!

also you can have a gorgeous bow and take a awefull picture of it and never sale a bow so that is something else to work on it took me a long time to figure out how to take a descent picture mine are no where as good as most of these ladies photos

* I am a ribbon sculptor, that is what I do and how I help my family! Everything I make is freehanded. James Avery made their sculpted ribbon ring just for me !*

*I will not tell you your UGLY bow is PRETTY but I will try to help you make it better..............wish someone would of told me my first bows were ugly. I do this out of love not wickedness *

I agree with everyone as well. Shorter spikes, and try the boutique fold. I don't hand sew, I tie mine with floss then sew the floss through the center of the bow. I also use a gator bite and it makes the BEST cinched centers! My site is www.sweetsouthernbowtique.com to give you an idea I hand fold my bows, but the gator bite was a God send to getting them perfect! On spikes, the spikes are to accent the bow, not "be" the bow. Hope this helps!

I personally do not make hairbows. The perfectionist in me would not allow me to do that. There are so many little tricks that can help you make your bows better. My friend/sister/craft partner does make bows. I have watched her time and time again make bows. All of the ladies so far have given you great advice. With anything I would say pick one style and work on it until you perfect it. Don't move on to another bow until you have perfected one style. In my bow experience, knowing your measurements is one of the main elements to making a good bow.

Good luck! I can tell that you really enjoy making them!
