Default How to make my twisted bows not collapse up?

I'm using templates but sometimes they come out great but sometimes they seems to collapse up. I hope you guys understand what I'm talking about. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something else I should be doing? HELP!!!

I think I know what you're talking about, got a picture?

What ribbon are you using? meaning maker - schiff, UB, yama, etc?

I find starching and/or baking the bow is the best way for the bow to stay "flat" and the loops perky.

No picture since I'm at work but I do use either UB ribbon or ribbon that I buy from HL, JoAnn's, etc.
I just started baking and starching them and it does seem to help but it just seems like something isn't right. I'll try to upload a picture later on.
I wasn't sure if I was spreading it wide enough or something?

Are you talking about this? I have the same problem. Made a bow last night used starch and blow dried it before finishing and it worked nice, but I agree something is wrong because I don't believe it should be doing it either. I don't use template

I was having this problem and someone told me it was because I was trying to make too small of a bow with too large ribbon. Meaning my bows were only three inches with 1 1/2 ribbon. She said to make them that small I needed to be using 7/8 ribbon. They look much better now. HTH

HHHMMM, I'll have to try that because I'm using all the formulas from the template but it's worth a try. Thanks.

What measurments do you use? I use 32" of 1.5 for a 4" bow, and 37" of 1.5 for a 5" bow. If using 7/8, I use 24" for a 3.5" bow.

I know what you mean! I had some do that last time. They didn't lay flat in the back. I actually was thinking I used too small width for the template. I didn't starch and bake... maybe that's where I went wrong.
