Default What do you use to line your alligator clips?

I use hot glue, but I seem to recall seeing a tutorial that used double sided tape or something like that. I'm curious, as that seems to be simpler, but I can't imagine it's very cost efficient or durable.

What do you use?

I use the 1/4" double sided tape. I get the rolls that have 36 yards and they will partially line about 288 clips per roll. I think it adds about 2 cents to the cost of each clip.

I have always used hot glue, but just purchased 2 rolls of tape. I am giving it a try because I don't like the way that hot glue lumps up underneath the ribbon and makes the ribbon look bumpy. Why not give it a try and see if you like it...you can always go back to glue.

Ya that's a good point! Perhaps I'll give it a shot as I also am not a huge fan of all the lumps that the glue can add. Is it just the scrapbooking double sided tape that you use? I saw some today and wasn't sure if that's what it is.

Also, where do you guys get it from?

I use hot glue also, but I have heard of ppl using hot glue on the start & finish points & the pinch & then using the double sided tape along the top & bottom of the prong(s). I am definately interested as I get bumps in mine also. I just discovered that I have a flat attachment for my hot glue gun & that helps a lot but doesn't do away with them all together.

I use hot glue on my clips and I used to get the bumps. Here is what I do to have a bump free clip. I put the hot glue on the clip, then lay the ribbon on top then take a smooth flat object and press it on top. And there is your smooth top. Make sure the ribbon is even with the edges. I just received my double side tape and I love it.

I use double sided tape that I have ordered through various group buys here. I love it! It holds perfectly and smoothly. I HATE using hot glue so I used to dread lining clips so much. Tape makes it so much easier in my opinion.

i use the double sided tape from kate's craft on here. i started doing the hotglue, but it was messy and took me forever. i tried the double sided tape alone, and just felt, even after i left it awhile to "cure" that it still wasn't as secure in my mind, so i put some hot glue in the pinch and at the end of the bottom of the clip just to give me piece of mind. even doing that, i still am much faster than before! i tried hot glue yesterday on a clip i knew would be completely covered by a sculpture and i shuddered when i saw it, lol.

I use my Xyron scrapbooking adhesive machine. So quick, permanent, and never have had any problems with the ribbon staying secure. I do put a little bit of E6000 in the pinch part of the clip to make it stay in there.
