Default Best way to make spikes (on the ends of ribbon)

I tried to make a few spike ends on the ribbon for hairbows with scissors and run a lighter, but it just don't come out looking very good... How does everyone else make theirs look good?? (AKA pointy ends on ribbons... the V points! )

Fold ribbon in half lengthwise, snip with scissors, separate (very, very slightly) and press against the barrel of a woodburner just long enough to seal. Open back up & press flat before it cools to ensure that it cools flat.

I usually use a woodburner and a metal 2" triangular ruler to make my cuts. You can find those rulers where they sell supplies for doll houses.

That is how I used to do it however, sometimes my spikes ended up looking curved - especially with thinner UB ribbon.... Here is an example of why I use my wood burner now:
