I tried making these when i got home and all i have is cotton, what types of materials can be used for theses flowers? I also found this flower and i love her stuff, is this flower made the same way and what type of material was used? thanks ladies

I made my first one last night, using some lavender silk material. I had some burnt edges also. I noticed right away that holding it directly in the flame was not good. Thanks for all the tips. I can't wait to try more tonight.

Use a soy candle. They don't produce much soot and therefore, smoke less.

I was wondering if a wood burning tool would work. I don't have one myself, but could you use it like a flame, not actually touching it but using the heat to curl the edges? Just an idea.

I use a candle, and hold my fabric above the flame and slightly to the side. It works perfectly every time. The petal will turn up slightly, and it looks really beautiful! If I want the flower to look a little flatter, I use a lighter.
