Question Help me with this problem...with singed flowers

I am a beginner on making singed flowers. I made a white one and a pale pink and they look really cute. They seem to be quite addicting
so I decided to make some in a more "fall/winter" color.

The problem is with a "cranberry" color fabric. Everytime I try to singe a petal, regardless of how close or far from the flame I place it, it burns. I mean, it singes but the border gets black. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Astrid

I have had this problem with certain fabrics. Is it 100% polyester?

It's probably the material. I had some that I thought would work for singed flowers also, but everytime I tried it burnt the edges. Not the right kind of fabric.

The darker colors seem to turn even darker as the fabric "melts". Personally I LOVE it and think it gives them a really vintage look once all the petals are put together to form the flower.

Sorry, sorry...
Don't know much about fabrics. It is organza.
Should I look for fabrics that are 100% polyester?
Which ones do you reccommend?

That's okay I just wanted to help you out.

Yeah I would look for 100% polyester, some fabrics are blends and end up burning.

One thing I noticed when making red white and blue ones for the 4th was that the red and blue seemed to have a black sheen to it depending on which direction you turned the fabric in the light, and I also had a hard time keeping it from turning black. I think in order for it to be that dark color there were some black threads in it as well. In the end I just let it do what it was going to, and I think they came out pretty good
