Default HELP! Korkers and Humidity

HELP! I recently sat up at an outdoors show and I live in Nebraska so it's pretty humid and all of my Korkers cam uncurled. Unfortunately some people bought them before I noticed and now I'm getting emails that theirs came completely uncurled! I used 3/8 inch ribbon from Michaels and starched it before I baked it and afterwards! Any advice!?!?!? I feel like an idiot!

Weird...I have taken korked ribbon and let it sit in a glass of water for a few days and it still has not come un-curled. I do not starch mine before or after baking but do use some Stiffen Stiff after they are sewn into 'balls' to keep the curls from nesting into each other. Maybe they were not baked long enough??? I don't know....

Michaels ribbon doesn't keep it's curl as well as offray. What temp and how long do you bake? How frustrating I hate humidity

I'm wondering about the bake time as well. The girls have been swimming in their korkers and I have done shows with high temps where the korkers also end up in their plastic totes in a hot car for hours. They never lost their curl.

The only other thing I can think of is what kind of ribbon? Some of that printed polyblend stuff at craft stores will NOT hold a curl no matter how long you bake it. You need 100% polyester.

I'm in NE too! What part are you in may I ask ? The humidity is brutal here, and unfortunately Michael's ribbon is rather flimsy, I usually try not to use it for korkers. My korkers have lasted through rain, swimming and this weather. Try baking them an extra 5 minutes and starch them as much as you can. Also, you might have better luck getting the printed Michael's ribbon to hold up better.

That's weird. I've had some go through the wash or be worn in the pool & they are still curled. And I have some that years later are as curly as the day I made them - and I didn't start starching until this year. Humidity or rain shouldn't affect the curl - I would guess it's the ribbon or the baking time.

I've washed my korker ribbon and it hasn't unkorked either. Like some of the other PPs I starch and bake and don't use the shiny HL ribbon.

Good luck finding a solution.
