Default Re: HELP! Korkers and Humidity

I have the same situation as most of the other gals... I've accidentally put a couple through the wash, my girls have worn out in the rain, I've been in craft shows where some got rained on, and they've all kept their curl... I'm guessing what everyone else said about the type/quality of the ribbon. I go for the "good stuff," like Yama, Schiff and Offray (100% polyester only). I too only occasionally spray Stiffen Stuff, but neve starch before baking and do it at 275 degrees for 24-25 minutes.

Hmm, that's weird. It may be the quality of ribbon?? I live in texas, lived in houston for 7 years and it's super humid there...it's all that warm coastal air. Anyway, I've never had any come unkorked. I always use schiff or offray and bake at 300 for about 20 min...no starch. I have korkers from when my 5 year old was an infant and they still look decent.

Sounds to me like it was the ribbon you used, or they didn't get cooked long enough. I would try using shiff, or offray next time...

I'm in Omaha as well! I bake mine for 30 minutes at 275.
