Default Adhering cabachons to metal?

I have e6000 and it says to wait 2-10 minutes then press together? So I am just waiting for the glue to get tacky and then attaching them? I am applying glue to both items. I didn't sand anything. How long until they are strong and won't come apart? So far it is not working for me. Also, how do you get the glue not to show on the bottom. I try not to apply too much but still seems to be seeping. thanks a bunch.
