Default Heat n Bond Question!! Please Help!

There wasn't much activity in the sewing section, so I thought I would try here.

I just cut out a bunch of ties for tie onesies. I have never made any before and just noticed that the heat n bond says to wash the fabric before aplying the heat n bond. Has anyone ever used it without washing it first? Did it work ok?? Please let me know, I really wanted to get some made tonight, and don't want all my ties that I cut out to be a waste

They just tell you that because all new fabric should be washed first...but I don't. I'm a quilter and do alot of applique and I never pre-washed my fabric. HTH!
