Default anyone have trouble with hot glue holding on metal?

I've always hot glued my ribbon to the clips.
Then suddenly it wasn't holding very well.
I switched the gun to a new one. Nope. Tried a new kind of gun w/different heat.. like went from a regular cheapo to a hot melt. Not working.
Then I switched glues.

Even contacted the manufacturers because it was making me crazy.
They didn't know.

Am I missing something here? Do you have a preference in glue gun or adhesive brand/type?

Seems silly .. but again...>

well, here's one, lol!

do you have your air conditioning on? My glue won't hold if it is too cold. That's my excuse for keeping the heat turned up in the winter, much to dh's dismay

my electric bill was over 450 a month this past winter. and i didn't have trouble with my gun then. hmmmm. we could be on to something!

Also, high temp on the gun works better than low temp for metal. Just throwing that out there too...

I wondered if it was the heat style of the glue or the higher temp of the gun. Like it heats up and even tho i let it sit it was still peeling RIGHT OFF!

I will try adjusting the temp in the house and see what happens.

I have problems with glue coming off my clips also. DIL keeps bring me back clips to redo. So now I am using tape and love it.
