Default How do you make a really full Tutu?

I have made tons of tutu's on both crochet headbands and elastic. On the headbands I'm able to make a really full tutu because of all the layers but I cant get a tutu to look full no matter how much I try with the elastic. I see others who have very full tutu's that dont appear to be on headbands. How do you do this?

try sewing your tulle instead of knoting it, or use multipule layers in each knot.

when you tie the tulle on the elastic start pushing it to the knot and work your way around always pulling it "bunching" it together-when its all done the tutu will look extremely full like the ones i make on my site-take a peek and see!

I made my dd a tutu today, and compared it to my first one...there was no comparison. My first one I used 1 roll of tulle and one layer for each knot. This time I used between 3.5-4 rolls of tulle, and used two strips, double knotted on no-roll elastic cut about 5 inches less than her waist measurement. It came out really full and looks gorgeous on my little lady. She's not a very willing model as of late though so I had to bribe her just to try it on!

I'll have to take a pic of the two and show you the difference. I also thought I was being clever putting velcro on the first one, what a pain! Something I will never do again.

I use 3 pieces for each knot. I also like to stack tutus to make them look fuller. The fuller the better for me!!

The ones you see everywhere that are ridiculously full are sewn.

Ok here's the first I ever made, and a pic of the one I made today. The pic of the one I made today has some stragglers which have been cleaned up now but of course it's dark and my camera is really not made for photos like this so it's the best I can get for now, but you get the idea.
