Default Sloppy glue around the edges?

I've dabbled in bow making but this is my first try at lining alligator clips. My question is how do I make the side edges (where you can see the top and bottom ribbon with the silver in the middle) look nice? I'm trying to not use too much glue but no matter what it just looks gunky around the edges if you look at them. I know they'll be covered by the bow and no one will ever see it... but I know it looks sort of crappy and that's all that matters lol.

What can I do to clean up the edges?

I see you have several people looking but no responses. I really can't answer your glue question because I've always used the tape for lining my clips and I really like it...I know some don't and use glue only. I hope the glue people will give you some tips on "neat" gluing soon I know it's frustrating to ask a question and get no replies.

I only use glue- and all I can say is that it take a lot of practice to get where it won't show...when I get extra on it I usually use my lighter to heat up the excess glue and wipe it off while it's pliable... be careful though as it will burn you

Hmm..yeah not quite sure really. I know that it helps if you use a glue gun with a finer nozzle, & also if you don't glue right near the edges. I seem to aim more for the middle and if I do get any little gloopies I just run my finger along them while the glue is still warm (not hot!). Sorry couldn't be more help!

Allison from the ThreeBlessingBowtique has some great instruction for lining clips with hot glue. It has change the look of my bows greatly. They are very easy to follow.

I'm a fan of using tape for lining my clippies. It is super strong, stays very smooth and you don't have to worry about the glue glops. :-)

I just add the glue in a thin strip along the middle. Since I've been doing it this way I havent had those messy edges any more.

Use less glue, and glue just along the middle. If some happens to seep out the sides, melt it with a lighter.

Ditto that. I use my finger nail to peel the thicker stuff off if I have to and then just use my lighter to melt up the rest. The colors that I find show the worst are red, black and brown. The lighter ones aren't even noticeable once I peel it with my nail.

I only use hot glue, you have to be quick and get lots of practice. I have lined 1000's of clips and I would say that AT LEAST the first 100 were pretty sloppy
