We used to make beaded pens with adhesive paper wrapped around bic pens...we used multi colored beads...these were awesome cool and sold great at shows! I usually added either some feathers on top or a flower and they looked awesome.

I've been playing around with the light weight clay for base,micro beads, and using a crayon that i melted the tip to do the indents. I love how light this keeps them and not having to bake is always a bonus for me. When I find my camera I'll post some picks. To make "bite" I just used a straw and took 3 chunks out and used liquid sculpey if you want a more gooie look to it. Just my 2 cents.
OH, I did spray with Krylon triple thick to seal also.
