Default I must be an idiot!

I have bottlecaps with holes and rings already attached. I just got some of the ribbon cord necklaces in the mail today. I was trying to attach the bottlecaps to the necklaces but the ribbon cord necklace wont fit through the ring. What am I doing wrong?? There has got to be a way to get the bottle cap on the necklace.

Can you open the ring on the bottlecap?

Can I find the larger split rings at a local store? Walmart, hobby lobby? I could change them all out I guess.

I only use 8mm split rings on mine - so the necklace will slide right through. If they used a 6mm, you will have to take it off to get the necklace on.

In a total pinch, you could gently squeeze together the end of the necklace using pliers and it should still slide through.

Thanks. I tried that and my necklaces break. I will use ball and chain necklaces for those.
