Default Why do you bake them?

Ok so its 3:30am and I decided that I needed to try a stacked bow with 7/8" ribbon.

What I am wondering is why do you bake them? Is it to help them hold there shape when they are stacked together?

I have always starched my other bows but after a run in with starch & rain, I stopped doing that LOL.

Do you bake them like you do your korkers? wet them then bake at 250 for about 15min?

I am gonna try to finish it tomorrow//today and try baking it to see what happens. I just wanted to ask

Thanks in advance

to stiffen them up a bit so they aren't so floppy

I don't wet them. I do 225 for 20 mins, everyone's oven is different though so do a tester. My oven is gas and tends to run hot.

The baking "melts" the polyester ribbon into the shape so it's permanent. I can crush it and it bounces back to the shape. I only do this for twisted boutique bows and it works great for spikes. Printed ribbon or dot ribbon you'll want to do a test strip to see if the colors are going to bleed.

Stacked bows can be floppy depending on the ribbon you're using.

Don't use any glue. You have to have tied or sewn together each layer, lay on foil or cookie sheet separately. I always let mine cool totally before stacking them.

Good luck!
