If you go to HL and I am sure they are at other places also you can buy a kit for a couple of dollars that comes with the tools and a few buttons to be covered. There is a template that you can cut out on the back.

It's super easy to do.

Her is one if you are coving regular buttons that come on say a shirt...

OR if you buy the covered button kits (pic below) the direction are on the back.. They are much easier to use a kit w/ the tools instead of real buttons.
