So if making a headband, take the end of the ribbon to the tip of the headband and measure over the top to the other tip. Take that measurement and tripple it, and then I always add a little extra(like 1/2 the original measurement). I do the same with flip flops, measure from strap tip, around the toe and to the other strap tip. The 3x length is usually perfect, but sometimes to get a print to show better I make the braid loose so the extra is really good for this. HTH
