Unhappy trying korkers, but they come out crazy!

Any tips or suggestions on how to "shape" them? I THOUGHT they were all the same length when I tied them together. Obviously, "eyeing it" just isn't good enough for korkers. I have my new woodburner thingy for sealing the ends, so I'd like to give it another try.

Tips?

Suggestions?

Do I need to "stiffen" them before I tie/sew them together.

Mine are just not uniform & I don't know what to fix.

This is why I sew mine. I couldn't ever get them to be even cause when I tied it they would sort of fall out. Plus, my DD could pull the pieces out. I prefer sewing now and they come out even every time.

I sew mine too. I count how many curls in to the middle (i.e. 3 curls) and link them together like popcorn. It's a bit tedious but you don't have to worry about the chaos from trying to tie them! I have a korker box, but have never used it. I don't know if that would help or not.

I spray mine on the dowel before they are totally cool. I sew mine too... that's why I have very few korkers

it's very time consuming for me to get them even

I also sew mine - the one and only time I tried to tie them, picture this: korker ribbon piled up like I wanted, the floss stuff underneath and ready to be tied. All is good then BOING! they started going all over - some falling out, others perfect. It was awful.

Me too. My husband made me a contraption to make it easy to sew them evenly. All it is is a piece of wood with a pin hole in the center. I put my threaded needle in the hole (with the sharp edge up) and place my ribbons on the needle at different angles. Once they are all on the needle I pull it through all the ribbons and repeat a couple of times and then knot it and it is finished. Works fantastic.
