Default What to use for necklaces?

I would love to start making them for kids (like little pearl bracelets) . But, what do you use to put them on? (elastic, yarn, or etc..) See I have no clue LOL!!

Plus do you just make them to fit on their necks or do you use a clasp to put them together?

I used to sell necklaces...and I really got sick of the cord/ribbon necklaces from china...great price but poor quality...They would either come apart on the way to me or would fall apart after I already sold them. YIKES!
I finally ended up making my own...I attached pics...I buy the hardware and make my own...that way you can customize to whatever you want to put on the necklace be it a bottlecap/scrabbletile/domino or clay bead or whatever.

What is good to use? As in the cording? Um...beading wire or cord...you'd need crimps...crimp covers if you like it looking more finished, clasps, chain if you'd like them adjustable.., jump rings to connect --your pearls of choice, spacer beads if you like that look as well...

I've been interested in this as well. How do you get the jump rings on the necklaces? They are so hard to get apart. I have looked for a tool but don't really know which one or how to use it.
Thanks.

I use a three in one jewelry making tool I bought at walmart...Its awesome...and super reasonable I paid 3.99 for mine...but I've noticed that they are over 5 bucks now. I use mine to open and close my jump rings...but if you use SPLIT rings you would need an entirely different tool.

I know lots of people use the multi strand metal beading wire...it worries me for when you need to crimp it off with crimp beads...worried it may come undone...thats why I like to use beading cord cuz you can reinforce it with a drop of super glue to make sure she won't come undone...
I have used the stretch beading clear cord too...it works fine for me...I just like the look of the adjustable bracelets either with regular cord and the adjustable chain or the full chain with added beads/charms.

This probably doesn't apply if you aren't using real pearls, but I use to work at a jewelry store and we re-strung pearl necklaces. We used silk bead cord (it's like a silk thread) and we knoted in between each pearl that way if the necklace ever broke you would loose alot of your pearls. It was the costumers choice, we also did them with out knots, but most people that had good pearl necklaces got them knotted.
