Default Flattened caps

I want to flatten a couple caps and just play with them a bit to see if I like them or not... how do I flatten them? lol. I have seen people mention the sizzix - is that expensive? what else would I use it for (to justify buying it)? Is there anything else I could use? TIA!

I use a scrap of wood and a rubber mallet. IF you get a rubber mallet get the one from the camping section in walmart not the hardware section. It is the same mallet but camping is 2.00 and hardware is 10!

I tried using my cuttle bug but did not get it to work. WOuld you mind sharing how you do it?
I have been using 2 plastic cutting boards and a rubber mallet wich works fine too. Just makes a lot of noise so can't do it when the kids are sleeping. Thanks!

i place them on the "A" plate and put the "C" plate on top of the caps don't put them to close to the front or it won't go thru then push on the 2 plates while turning. i usually only put 5 caps on at a time.

ive noticed that when using the mallet you get kinda of a concave look to the middle. Does that make sense?? my images kinda go in in the middle because its not completely flat. How to i resolve this. Also how do you place your caps with the ridges up or down??

I was having the same problem with the concave top then saw a post from another hipgirl who uses the flat side of a meat cleaver. Tried it out and it works great - ridge side down on a cutting board and I smash it, doing quarter turns in between. Usually 4 or 5 good hits will get it nice and flat. And yeah, it's a great stress reliever!
