Default Hairbow Glue

I was wondering if you use special hot glue or something else for your hairbows... Today I had my first show, and I had a couple of clips fall off my bows, it was so mortifying! I have been using a high temp hot glue gun with high temp glue. I am not sure if it was because it was ridiculously hot today or what. When I first started I was using all temp hot glue sticks, not sure if that makes a difference or not. Should I be using something else? Thanks for your help!

I use fabri-tac and love it! It is a little pricey but worth it. Watch for michaels 40% off coupons and get the big bottle for cheap! HTH

I sand or score my clips so that gives the surface some tooth to help the glue stick better.

I use hot glue and a really good glue gun like Allison but I have bows that are now 18 years old from my oldest daughter that are still stuck tight. I've tried to reclaim the ribbon and they won't let go. I also hold them for a few seconds when I glue them to give the glue time to curen a little.

I've always worried to about being at a show in 90+ degree weather. Will the hot glue become so soft that they come undone? I have a show coming up in August that will be outdoors so this has been in the back of my mind while making all these bows.

I need to get a better glue gun. It's not hot enough. I know because when I get the glue on me I don't squeal in pain and get a blister, like my old one. lol

what all are you using to put the appliques on? Other options that work the same or better than hot glue.

So what specific brands are good hot glue guns, just so I know. Mine definitely isn't hot enough.

Thanks

Sarah

Edited to add that mine supposedly has both high and low temps. But the high temp doesn't burn me enough to get a blister and I definitely can pull stuff glued together apart later.
