Default attaching rhinestone cluster to peony

Hi girls

I've got a query. I have my beautiful peonies and rhinestone clusters and was just getting ready to attach the cluster onto the flower by sewing it on. However, as I was about to take the flower apart, I noticed that it is quite hard to sew the layers together without losing the shape as there are plastic bits within the layers holding their shape. As the cluster has a shank, I'm guessing most people don't glue this on? Or should I just try to glue all the layers together as well as the shank?

Many thanks for any advice!

I have always taken the whole flower apart and taken off any plastic that can be taken off. Then glue everything back together. make sure to keep the order of the petals. HTH.

Thanks for that. Does it hold its original shape well?

A nice shank remover comes in handy. I make flatbacks out of my cluster buttons and they glue right on. Never have had a problem with it. It's tough to sew these because sometimes, like you say, the flower doesn't set/ the thread doesn't stay in place.
glad to hear someone else is gluing!

I hadn't even realised a shank remover existed! Thanks for that
Silly me glued a few with the shank still on and it was a bit of a struggle!
