Default My twisted boutique bows always fold in on themselves... what am I doing wrong?

I have been making bows for a while and they are fine but then I see other ppl whose bows look great and wonder what I am doing wrong. Mine always fold in on themselves, esp. the 7/8 in ribbon. How do these bows turn out so fabulous??? I'm posting a link to a forum with a picture of a great twisted boutique bow...

http://hipgirlclips.com/forums/ribbo...ique-bows.html

Is it just rearranged and starched? Or maybe my loops are not big enough?

See picture in my post below...

Can you post a picture of your bows? That might help solve the issue

Ha ha, I knew someone would ask. Here is one I made. The picture is not that great as I was in a hurry and I didn't really fluff it properly. But here it is...

Ok I see, I was thinking something different.

I think you are just not pulling the layers apart enough.

It also doesn't look like your bottom layers are in line with each other.

You only pull the top layers apart, make sure you keep the bottom layers in a line.

I hope that makes sense!

Sorry, I might need more details about that. What do you mean the bottom layers are not in line? Do I pull the left top and left bottom layers apart vertically?

Here is a fast (and terrible) edit in paint to show you LOL

The red layers are the bottom, leave those on top of each other, do not pull them apart.

The purple are the only layers that should be pulled apart

I hope that helps make more sense even if it is a little sloppy!

* oh I didnt think about this before, but if you are using the figure 8 method this might not make sense.

girlythingsbows used to have a tutorial on there that I used and I am not seeing it now. But you measured out the ribbon and then folded it over so many times, put a pin through the center and then pulled the loops apart, that is how I do mine.

Yes, the visuals help. Thanks for taking the time to do that. I appreciate it. I will try it and see.

Pull the layers apart and fluff more. I only hand fold my bows, but many people love templates. Have you tried them? There is a tut floating around on youtube.com also could give you a better idea.
