Post fabric flower question

Do you have any tricks for getting them done faster? It currently takes me 30 minutes after cutting the material to get them sewn up! Does everyone hand sew them or is there a way to do them with a sewing machine? Any tricks for cutting the material faster too...without a machine. Thanks so much!

What style fabric flower are you making? I use a simple running stitch (by hand) for the round 5-petal flower and it takes maybe 4-5 minutes per flower.
There are some ladies who swear by the Olfa rotary cutter - you might want to check that out. I still cut by hand, layering the fabric 4 deep.
HTH!

Thanks so much for replying hilogirl! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your fabric flowers they are beautiful and just so perfect looking! I guess it takes a few for practice . I am using a (scrapbook circle shape?) to trace a circle and then cut them out. As far as sewing it does take me a while, but working on getting faster. After I saw your post I was inspired to make these and they are my new favorite embellishment! Thanks so much!

Awwww...thanks and you're very welcome! They're fun to make and very addicting. My circle "template" is a regular plastic drinking cup
Good luck and happy sewing!

That's how I do mine! I agree, it is something that you become faster at over time. I was just teaching my colleague's daughter how to make some earlier. She's 8, so she was really thrilled!!

I don't cut circles I cut squares but I'm not sure that take any less time to do. The first flower I made was a layered one and it seriously took me 2 hours to finish Now it only takes me 4-5 min per flower. I don't really think there are any short cuts though just the more you make the quicker you'll get.

Do you get a different look with the circles as opposed to squares?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the square cut forms pointy flowers and the circle cut forms round petal flowers.
