Default Made My First Korker...Question

Hello! I am new to the board and to crafting. My question is, I just made my first korker bow for my daughter. I guess the pictures I have seen of them they look really...sturdy? maybe is the word I am looking for, maybe stiff. The one I just made is kind of floppy, as far as the ribbon goes. Maybe I just didn't use a small enough dowel? Anyone have any suggestions? Or is this normal? Thanks

Kate

I used 3 different sized dowels. They start at 1/4 inch then the next 2 sizes available at my craft store (did not keep sticker with size) and I had them in the oven for 20 minutes at 250. I do not have a picture right now, I could take one and load it tomorrow if I can figure out how to load it on here...

Well here is a photo of mine:

I use 3/8" dowels and cut with a rotary cutter.. I tightly wind them on the dowels.. I also spray them with the "wet starch" before putting them in the oven..

Ok...I haven't heard of wet starch, or is this something I make? Like I said, I JUST started today, got the directions on line and then found this forum. I LOVE yours, it is adorable! How long do you cut them? And what is a rotary cutter, I am just using plain scissors. I took a picture of the 2 I have made so far and will be posting as soon as they upload to my computer. Thanks for the help too!

All I have been doing is wrapping them as tight as possible on the dowels, (1/4 in) baking them at 250 for 20ish minutes cutting them, and binding them with thin wire...do you think thread works better? I'm just wrapping the wire around a few times...and I will hot glue them to the clips where the wire is twisted...
