ok.. the first thing I see plainly is that you are not using enough pieces.. I use about 50 pieces in everyone that I make.. Try using more pieces and see if that works out better for you..
I use a liquid starch called sta flo I believe.. You have to mix it with water..

I use the 1/4." I looked at the picture. It looks like the length may be too long.

I cut mine 2.5 inches long. I used to sew mine and they looked floppy, ugly, and uneven, and then I started tying them and they look soooo much better!

yes cut them 2.5 inches and use 25-30 peices, i use a long needle stack them all on that and after all the peices are on go up and down through the ribbon a few times, good lucK!

Ok, I took apart my 2nd one and added a bunch more to it and this is what I got. Definitely not as nice as some of the others I've seen but much better than the 1st one I made, IMO. http://s840.photobucket.com/albums/z...urrent=276.jpg

Dont give up!!

I would be *horrified* to share my first korkers, and now thats all I do- hundreds upon hundreds of them! It really does take some practice, and you'll get your own little way of doing it. Korkers are probably that one bow that really has a lot of individual "tips and tricks" that you develop along the way!

I agree to add more pieces, and when I tie, you really gotta pull that sucker tight! It might help by starting to make smaller ones, fewer pieces of ribbon to deal with. Then as your confidence grows, your korker can too

Keep up the good work!!

Much better i say cut the length of the peices down or if you want keep them that length add even more to get a nice round ball!

i count by curl i do 3 curls and 20-25 peices for mine and they are med size

Maybe I just didn't use a small enough dowel? Anyone have any suggestions? Or is this normal? Thanks

Kate, this may sound crazy, but I use chopsticks. I like the smaller curl. Everytime we go to chinese I grab a couple of extras. They are not that long, but I just do more.

Mine look like yours, I don't sew them. I just lay them in a line over some embroidery thread and I have to double stack them, then tie them up. I also spray mine afterward and mine aren't all floppy either. But I line an alligator clip and then hot glue that to the bottom and if I pull on one of the korkers it could come out the opposite side. Do yours do that? I figured it was like that because I don't sew them. But when I tried to sew them it was horrible and I couldn't get it to be round and it was all floppy. What length do you cut yours too?
