Default MESSY Bottlecaps Need HELP PLEASE!!!

I attempted to do my first Bottlecaps tonight and it did not work well I claened the cap with alcohol first then took a magazine picture and Modge poded it to the cap. I then tried to use envirotext lite to somewhat form a little dome over the cap. The picture absorbed the liquid now as it is drying it shows that it was wet looking the picture I mean. It looks like it would if you placed water on a magazine. What should I have done differently?? Please Help. Would claer nail polish have helped to prent the phote from the wetness. I am so sad.

I haven't made a cap yet, but I remember reading that you need to use a sealer on your images to prevent the ink from running. I have spray cans of "clear acrylic sealer" that I planned on using. You can buy it at craft stores and at Walmart. Sorry you ruined your first attempt.

Ditto on the above post. I have not used a sealer yet. But I have only used pictures on card stock and didn't have the wet problem. I do plan on using the sealer for all my future caps so I don't ever have to worry about it.

What kind of paper did you use?

I did a lot of 'throw-away' experiments at first to see how my supplies would work together the best. Not having bought any instruction on how to do bottlecaps, the information around here had a few little 'holes' that I had to fill in for myself.

I found that regular paper and cardstock wouldn't work at all because they're too porous and soak up whatever you try to seal them with. Either that, or if you use page pebbles liquid can still soak up under the very edge and run the ink on your design.

Photopaper isn't as porous and is stiff enough that it doesn't do that wrinkling up thing when it gets a bit wet. To keep the pics on the cap I use a double stick adhesive page I got at the local scrapbooking store and punch 1" circles of it. I put that on a cleaned cap, place a 1" cut out pic on top, and then lightly paint over the pic with clear nail polish (I have an ink jet printer, so the ink would run otherwise). After that's dry, I use the Envirotex Lite.

Hang in there! Be sure you do a bit of trash-talking so that it knows who is in charge.

I have made some in the past. I printed images on photo paper. Used a glue stick to glue image to cap. Then sealed with clear nail polish. Then used the clear laquer 3D.
