Default How to make better korkers???

Ok I made some of my first korkers. I used premade korker ribbon....I made one that I cut 6 curls long and one that I cut 5 curls long. The 6 curl long one is very flat...do I need to add more ribbon? The one I cut 5 curls long is very nice and poofy but it won't hold its shape. What do I need to do to it to make it stiffer and hold it shape? I've seen people posting about this, but can't remember what they said about it. Thanks for all your help in advance!

Oh btw...I sewed them...I don't know if that matters or not.

yup the more pieces you use the better! The best korkers i get are from using 3-4 yards of ribbon. I hope that helps you out!

These are mine made with 1/8" and with about 30 - 35 pieces. I starched some, and some I didn't.....I don't know if these were or not

here is how i do mine. i wrap them around the dowel rod, spray with starch bake at 275 for 15 min then cut them and sew together then if i feel like they need more stiffness i'll spray them with some more starch and let them air dry. works like a charm

Ok...mine are definately not that full. The 6 curl one was like only 24 pieces so I know I have to add to that one. The 5 curl one was 18 pieces and it seems fairly full but it just won't hold its shape. Do I need to add to that too or try starching and baking it (can I do that after it's made?)? I think I heard someone using hairspray too?? Ugh...I was all excited to have these done but they just don't look right! LOL

I would definitely try to add more pieces. I use 30 and they come out nice. Never even starched them, but I might now!

here's a pic of mine...

Adorable! Can I ask what length you cut your 1/8 peices? My 3/8 korkers are nice but my first 1/8 I think I cut too long cause it was floppy.
